scoping the Botanic Gardens

Another heatwave in Adelaide is forming. It’s blue skies and bright sun. The streets and buildings are hot. Air-conditioners are going full blast.

I’ve been walking to and from the Botanic Gardens in the heat to scope some work for an experimental film-based photoshoot on Friday. It’s a film challenge in a world of digital photography.

In the Botanic Gardens I’ve been attracted by the various strands of bamboo in the northern and southern ends:

I’ve selected the Botanic Gardens because the film experiment is during the day using transparency film –Fuji Velvia 100F. Since the temperature is going to be 40 degrees Celsius on Friday I’ve been exploring the areas in the deep shade in order to avoid the harsh sunlight. Fortunately the two strands of bamboo are in the shade.
